Dr. Ingryd Lorenzana

  • Dr. Lorenzana is a Developmental Vision Optometrist who has obtained additional training and peer reviewed certification in the areas of Pediatric-Binocular Vision and Perception through additional education in a Residency Program and Fellowships both in the American Academy of Optometry and The College of Optometrist for Visual Development. She is uniquely qualified to diagnose and manage functional-developmental visual disorders both in CHILDREN and ADULTS.

  • As an active member of PEDIG (Pediatric Eye Disease Investigative Group) she is amongst nationwide experts who contribute to the development of treatment protocols in the areas of children’s vision through NIH funded studies especially in the area of AMBLYOPIA.

  • More importantly: Dr. Lorenzana like many of the patients she treats has experienced academic disabilities and has overcome her own visual battles through Vision therapy. Due to a high prescription she received her first eyeglasses at age THREE to prevent Amblyopia (lazy eyes).  Later on as her visual demands increased while attending college, her eye tracking abilities, uncoordinated eye muscles and visual processing delays became more apparent. Therefore, she completed a vision therapy program which allowed her to be successful in school and become an Optometrist.

  • Today Dr. Lorenzana feels privileged to have had to deal with the visual struggles she faced throughout her academic career. This unique experience allows her to better understand firsthand the full ramification both psychologically and academically of what her patients go through on a day to day basis due to untreated visual issues.
